Where qualifying takes you
A TET is an eligibility test, not a recruitment. Passing it makes you eligible to apply; appointment happens through a separate notification, with its own merit list and vacancies. Holding the certificate is the door, not the room.
- Primary TET (West Bengal)
- Eligibility to teach classes I–V in state-aided and sponsored primary schools. Conducted by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education.
- Upper Primary TET (West Bengal)
- Eligibility to teach classes VI–VIII in state-aided schools. Conducted by the Central School Service Commission.
- CTET
- Eligibility for central government schools — Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas and schools run by the Union Territories. Many state, private and unaided schools accept it too. The certificate is valid for life.
You qualify at 60%. West Bengal relaxes this to 55% for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PH/DA, EC, Ex-Servicemen and Death-in-harness candidates. Always check the current notification on the conducting Board’s own website before applying.
What you can prepare here
Each section names the source it was built from, and says plainly when nothing has been published there yet.
Topic-wise syllabus
Every subject, unit, topic and subtopic, each marked as the Board’s own wording or as our breakdown of it.
Official updates
Notices, dates and results — published only after a person has compared them with the Board’s own document.
Study material
Lessons written against each subtopic, with the source they were written from named on the page.
Practice questions
Nine ways to practise, including the ones you got wrong and the topics you are weakest on.
Mock tests
Timed like the real paper, with the clock kept on the server so closing the tab changes nothing.
Previous-year papers
Questions that actually appeared, each matched to its year and question number before it is listed.
How to use this, in order
Five steps, and every number below is counted from what is published right now rather than written into the page.

Pick your exam, and see the whole syllabus
643headingsPrimary TET, Upper Primary TET or CTET. Each opens the Board’s own breakdown rather than somebody’s summary of it, down to the individual heading, with the document each line came from named beside it.
Open the syllabus - 2
Read the lesson written against that heading
60lessonsNot a chapter that happens to touch the topic — a lesson written for that one heading, naming what it was written from. Bengali alongside English wherever a full translation exists.
Browse the lessons - 3
Practise the same heading straight away
3,402questionsQuestions sit under the heading they test, so you practise what you have just read instead of a general mix. Every answer comes back with the reasoning for it, and 20 a day are free.
Start practising - 4
Sit a full paper against the clock
80papersMock papers built to the real pattern, and previous-year papers rebuilt question by question at the number each carried in the booklet. The clock runs on the server, so closing the tab does not pause it.

Let it bring back what you got wrong
Accuracy per topic and per heading, so you can see where the marks are actually going — and a spaced-revision queue that returns a question just as you are about to forget it.

TET-2023
West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test
24 Dec 2023Source under review
This sitting is over. We have no later date on record for this exam — when the Board issues one it appears in official updates.
Official sourceThese dates have not been checked against an official WBBPE notice yet. Confirm them on the official website before relying on them.
Where everything here comes from
A teaching career turns on these facts, so this site would rather say “not checked yet” than look confident and be wrong.
Official wording is marked as official
Anything taken from a Board document says so. Anything we split up ourselves says that instead.
Nothing is published until a person checks it
Notices and dates wait for a named reviewer to compare them with the Board’s own document, and every entry links to it.
Unconfirmed things say so, in plain words
The Upper Primary structure and the 2023 date both carry a caution, because neither has been confirmed against a current notice.
Nothing is invented to fill a page
No made-up question counts, no placeholder lessons. A page that is empty is empty because nothing has been published there yet, not because it is hidden behind a payment.

Common questions
Is this the official WBBPE website?
No. This is an independent preparation site. It is not the West Bengal Board of Primary Education and does not speak for them. Every date and notice here links to the Board’s own document, and wbbpe.wb.gov.in is the authority.
Does qualifying CTET or the TET get me a teaching job?
No. In the Board’s own words, “Qualifying CTET would not confer a right on any person for Recruitment/Employment as it is only of the eligibility criteria for appointment.” It makes you eligible to apply; the recruiting authority still runs its own selection. (CBSE, CTET Frequently Asked Questions, v5 of 5 August 2025.)
How long is a TET certificate valid?
For life. NCTE changed it in June 2021 from the earlier seven years: “The Validity period of TET qualifying certificate for appointment, unless otherwise notified by the appropriate Government, would remain valid for life.” Note the caveat — a state government can notify otherwise, so check your own Board’s notice as well. (CBSE CTET FAQ v5, quoting NCTE; public notice of 21 June 2021 on ctet.nic.in.)
What score counts as passing?
60 per cent or more. NCTE’s notification of 11 February 2011 says a person scoring 60% or more in the TET is considered TET-pass — 90 out of 150. On concessions the official wording is narrower than most sites suggest: school managements “may consider giving concessions to person belonging to SC/ST OBC differently able persons” under their own reservation policy. So the commonly quoted 55 per cent is a concession a recruiter may apply, not a second pass mark set by the Board.
How many times can I sit CTET?
As many as you like. “Till now there is no limit on number of attempts for appearing in CTET”, and you may sit it again after already qualifying — the Board’s answer to that is “Yes There is no restriction”. People do re-sit to improve a score. (CBSE CTET FAQ v5.)
Do I have to take both CTET papers?
Only if you want to teach across both stages. Paper I covers classes I–V and Paper II classes VI–VIII; you need both only if you intend to teach classes I–VIII. They do not have to be taken together — the Board confirms you may appear in Paper I and Paper II in different cycles. Each paper runs 2 hours 30 minutes. (CBSE CTET FAQ v5.)
Where do I get my CTET certificate and marksheet?
From DigiLocker. The Board issues the eligibility certificate and marksheet there rather than on paper, so a lost copy is re-downloaded rather than reissued. (CBSE CTET FAQ v5.)
Who conducts the TET in West Bengal?
Two different authorities, which is a common source of confusion. The Primary TET, for classes I–V, is conducted by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education. The Upper Primary test, for classes VI–VIII, is set by the West Bengal Central School Service Commission — it is not a WBBPE examination. CTET, covering both stages nationally, is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education.
When was the last West Bengal Primary TET held?
On 24 December 2023. It was first notified for 10 December and then postponed by the Board, so the earlier date still circulates and is wrong. Around 2.73 lakh of the 3.09 lakh registered candidates sat it. We show this date with a caution until a reviewer has checked it against the Board’s own notice.
Is CTET eligibility the same as being eligible in West Bengal?
Not automatically. CTET is the central eligibility test and is used for central-government schools; whether a state accepts a CTET certificate for its own recruitment is that state’s decision, and for West Bengal’s state-aided primary posts the Board’s own TET is what its notices require. Check the recruitment notice you are applying under — CBSE itself says eligibility “shall be finally verified, by the concerned recruiting agency / appointing authority.”
Why do some syllabus entries say “our breakdown”?
The Board publishes topics at a certain level of detail. Where we split one of those into smaller pieces to make it easier to study, we label it as ours rather than presenting it as official wording.
Why are some pages empty?
Because nothing has been published there yet. There are 60 lessons, 3,402 practice questions and 90 papers to sit published so far, and more are written and checked each week. An empty page is never content hidden behind a payment: if something is there and you cannot open it, the page says so and says why.
What does Premium cost?
Premium is ₹299 for one month, ₹599 for three months or ₹899 for six months. They do not all unlock the same things, so the comparison on the plans page is the one to read before choosing. Each is a single payment for that many days — nothing renews, and no card is stored by this site.
Can I study in Bengali?
Yes. 10 lessons are written in Bengali rather than translated into it, and questions carry Bengali wherever a full translation has been written — never half of one, because a part-translated question renders half in each language. You choose the language when you start a paper. The site's own buttons and menus are in English for now.
